The Zombie Story The Chronicles of Orlando Book 1 edition by M M Shelley Kimberly Azmi Literature Fiction eBooks

Being a novella you would think getting everything that is in that synopsis would make this convoluted. But it really hasn't. This book starts off straight away and you're getting to know Orlando and the world around him. Next thing you know, Orlando is out fighting zombies!

Now, this is a different zombie book. It's not like all the other zombie books out there. Somehow M.M. Shelley was able to create a world that isn't apocalyptic or dystopian and yet, there are still zombies. Most people just don't know about them!

And I was also surprised that I could not tell exactly who was working against Orlando! You don't know who to trust. I absolutely love when I can't figure out a plot, or a major plot line, it makes reading a book that much more fun!

The one downside was the dialogue. Although the plot and the actual reading was quite easy, so easy in fact that I looked to see how slow I was reading and I was already 45% through, but the speech is sometimes disjointed. Not enough to take away from the plot, just enough to distract every once in a while. And for some reason it took me quite a while to feel a really good connection with Orlando. Although I did by the end, but again this is a novella so not as much time can be taken to get to really know and fall in love with the characters. Honestly I am very curious what is going to happen in the second.

Also, kind of a side note... I love these covers! They are brilliant and very intriguing. I would pick this book up just for the cover not even knowing zombies were inside. But then the zombie part of it would have me sold! :D

The Zombie Story The Chronicles of Orlando Book 1 edition by M M Shelley Kimberly Azmi Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I not sure how I feel about this book it was very different from anything I read before so l am at a lost.
From the time I started reading till I finished it I could not put it down . I was glued to the screen (kindle) . I was squirming and I was stuck with a grin on my face.
I gave it 5 stars because i thought it was a fun zombie read. The lead was someone i could like and enjoy. I also liked the setting and the motorcycle
This zombie tale brings back the days of old when zombies were created by black magic users.
There is plenty of mystery and action to keep the plot interesting.
The target audience is young adult.
Readers of Young Adult-Horror may enjoy this story.
Reads more like an outline then a story. Characters are two dimensional and a bit flat. Action is a bit jumbled, whole storyline a bit difficult to follow. Came across as rushed. Would like to read a remake where the author takes his time and has some fun with it.
Even though I knew, from looking at the cover, that this was more of a young adult fiction...I couldn't resist the lure of zombies. Much to my chagrin, I now know that not all zombies are created equal.

This didn't really feel like a finished product, even for a novella or short story. I felt like I was reading the author's notes of how the story was supposed to flow without actually getting to the meat of the story. Conversations were stilted and uncomfortable. The action didn't grab you into it. And unfortunately, Orlando is really not that likable, although this may be because he is not developed fully due to the length of this story.

Since younger readers may find this book more engaging than I did (they obviously fell for the hype of the Twilight series!), I'll go with the benefit of the doubt that it's just the wrong age level for me.
When Orlando unwillingly moves to Los Angeles the last thing he expected was to witness a shooting. When he calls to the police there is no evidence that the murder took place. Now his parents are furious and his grandpa lets him know that he's a zombie hunter and will start training soon.

Fast paced, action packed, fun and entertaining read. This book was a great introduction to the Chronicles of Orlando. There was never a dull moment. The characters were easy to like. I loved that there was so much going on to keep my interest. This was a quick and easy read. I look forward to checking out what happens next. There was many twists and turns and people are not who they seem.I really enjoyed this books storyline. 4 of 5 stars.
